Aluminium pallets are increasingly used in the food and pharmaceutical industries, where they have some distinct advantages over plastic pallets such as:
- Aluminium pallets can be made in any style without tooling costs, unlike plastic pallets which require moulds
- They meet all of the relevant Good Manufacturing Practice requirements of the pharma industry: for example, they don’t harbour bacteria, are less susceptible to cracks & superficial damage and are anti-static
- They are, on average, 25-33% lighter than a comparable plastic pallet – important from a health & safety and handling perspective
- They have a longer lifespan than plastic pallets, and unlike plastic pallets they can be repaired
- They are cheaper and easier to clean than plastic pallets
- They are far more robust than plastic when it comes to extreme variations in temperature
- Unlike plastic pallets, they are not flammable and are not deemed a fire risk by insurance companies
- Aluminium pallets can be easily disposed of should the need arise and are 100% recyclable with an inherent raw material value
